Where exactly am I going?
We’re getting hitched at 50000 Lake Creek Camp Rd Seneca, OR 97873. It’s beautiful, remote, and has exactly zero bars of cell service. If you rely on GPS to find your way home, you might become a permanent resident of the Malheur National Forest. Print your directions before you leave!
What should I wear? Is this a "tuxedo in the dirt" situation?
We want you to look nice for photos, but we also want you to survive. Wedges, blocks, or boots are highly recommended over stilettos, unless you want to spend the ceremony stuck in the mud like a lawn ornament. Also, bring a heavy jacket. June in Grant County is "shorts weather" at 2:00 PM and "tundra weather" at 10:00 PM.
What’s the deal with the cabins?
Think classic summer camp vibes. They are rustic, cozy, and significantly more comfortable than the ground. They are first-come, first-served, so if you want a roof over your head, let us know ASAP.
Can I bring my RV?
Absolutely! We have hookups available. Just make sure to give us your rig's length, so we don't try to squeeze a 40-footer into a 20-foot spot. We’d prefer not to spend our wedding morning calling a tow truck.
Is there an open bar, or should I pack a flask?
We’ve got you covered! We’ll have a full spread of beer, wine, and liquor. That said, we are in the woods, if you wander off after too many whiskies, please leave a trail of breadcrumbs so we can find you.
What are we eating?
We’re skipping the fancy salads for a mountain feast of smoked meats, beans, and potatoes. There will be some fruits and veggies too, mostly so we can tell our parents we ate a balanced meal.
Are dogs/pets allowed?
Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but if they eat the wedding cake, you're buying the next one.
Will I be able to post to Instagram during the wedding?
Only if you have a very well-trained carrier pigeon. Lake Creek is a total dead zone, think of it as a forced spiritual retreat, but with better food and an open bar. If you’re truly suffering from TikTok withdrawal, you can try to bum off someone's Starlink, but good luck finding the password. We recommend just pretending it’s 1995 and actually talking to the person sitting next to you. They’re probably pretty cool!
How to get here? (Because your GPS will lie to you)
Starting Point: The stoplight in John Day (the intersection of Hwy 26 and Hwy 395).
Head South: From the light, travel South on Hwy 395 toward Canyon City.
Turn Left on Canyon Creek Rd: After passing through Canyon City, look for Canyon Creek Road on your left. Turn here.
The Climb: Stay on Canyon Creek Road as it heads into the forest. This road eventually becomes Forest Service Road 15. Follow this for several miles.
The Big Left: When you reach the junction for Forest Service Road 16, turn Left (heading East toward Logan Valley).
The Final Turn: Watch for NF-924 / Lake Creek Camp Rd and take a Left.
Home Stretch: Follow Lake Creek Camp Rd for about 2 miles. The camp will be on your left.
Pro-Tip: If you hit the wide-open meadows of Logan Valley and see the Strawberry Mountains but haven't seen a camp sign yet, you're close! If you start seeing signs for Prairie City, you've gone way too far.
